Kelly Hocker
Executive Director & Managing Partner

The Managing Partner and co-founder of the company, Kelly earned degrees from Indiana Wesleyan University and Indiana University. Kelly devotes his time primarily to overseeing the daily operations of The Foreign Language Company
. He is also active in the company’s financial operations. Kelly has 10 years of translation management experience and brings with him a diverse background in business, including marketing, project management and accounting which assure that the company runs smoothly and customers receive the highest degree of service.

Bill Zart  
Director of Translation Services & Managing Partner
Bill is a linguist and translator, who received his B.A. in Russian, Spanish and French and his M.A. in Russian Linguistics and Spanish Linguistics from Purdue University in 1991 and 1993 respectively. Bill has also studied at the Pushkin Institute in the former Soviet Union in 1990. He has taught Russian, Spanish, French, Portuguese, ASL and English as a Second Language, working at Purdue University, Marian College, ELS Language School, Ivy Tech, IUPUI and IUPUC. Bill founded The Foreign Language Company
along with Kelly Hocker in 1997. He is a member of the American Translators Association, the Midwest Association of Translators and Interpreters, the American Council of Teachers of Russian and serves on the Indiana Commission for Health Care Interpreters and Translators. He is currently studying Dutch and Italian. 

Jennifer Porter
Director of the Indy Foreign Language Academy

Jenna is the Instructional Coordinator and works with all students to place them into an appropriate group class or develop an individualized plan of study.  She also plans and manages class and instructor schedules and matches new students with an instructor who can help them to meet their language-learning goals. Jenna received her B.A. in Spanish and Theatre from Franklin College of Indiana and has worked at the Needham and Lindley Schools as well as the Bona Vista Center and other language schools in central and northern Indiana, teaching Spanish and ESL.  She is currently pursuing a Masters in Education with a concentration in TESOL from Shenandoah University.

Marietta Suarez  
Senior Spanish Translator

Marietta joined us in April of 2005. She is originally from Cuba and has lived for Venezuela for many years. She is a perfectionist when it comes to translation. She works tirelessly to understand the client's text or product so that she can deliver the best possible translation. In addition to translating general texts, she specializes in technical texts comprising the fields of electricity, woodworking, machinery and home remodeling. She regularly produces over 4,000 words a day of translation from English into Spanish.

Carmen Mejías
Spanish Interpreter/Translator

Carmen joined The Foreign Language Company
in November of 2000 as our project coordinator. In addition, she also works as one of our Spanish interpreters and translators. She specializes in legal, marketing and human resources translations. Carmen is from Venezuela, and holds a degree in Business Administration from the Instituto Universitario de Tecnología Antonio José de Sucre in Venezuela. She has over 15 years of experience working in business administration, human resources and public relations.

Magdy Mirabal  
Desktop Publishing Designer/Spanish Translator
Magdy is responsible for editing documents from English into Spanish. Her many years of experiences as an architect, management consultant in human resources and marketing, and particularly her experience in designing and implementing health projects make her one of our professionals who is responsible, among other things, for ensuring that the final translation product is always of the highest professional quality. Magdy received her degree in Architecture in Venezuela in 1985; in 1992 she graduated with a Master's Degree in Management Logistics which earned her a managerial position in the field of health services. This led her to specialize in the field receiving her Master's Degree in Health Administration from IUPUI in 2000. Now in the US, she brings her 19 years of experience in the technical and management field to The Foreign Language Company
as a translator and editor.

Marta Rainero

Jonathon Henley  
Project Manager

Jonathon Henley joined our team in August 2006 as a full-time project manager.  He is from Indianapolis and a recent graduate at Indiana University Bloomington, having earned a Bachelor's Degree in both German and International Studies. Prior to graduating IU, Jonathon studied for an academic year abroad from 2004-2005 at the University of Freiburg in Germany.  In the summer of 2004, he also interned with The Foreign Language Company
, assisting with translations, teaching of an immersion class, developed marketing and promotion skills and used extensive research with database building for client referrals at our offices in Indy and St. Louis.  Jonathon’s prompt organizational skills and profound professionalism will continue to make him a great asset towards our company.

Anna Proksch  
Project Manager

Anna Proksch joined our team in September 2005 as a full-time project manager and a part-time language instructor. A native of Varese, Italy, she started her studies at the University of Milan. After moving to New York in August 1999, she finished her studies at SUNY Geneseo and graduated with a major in French and a degree in Foreign Languages and Literature. Her knowledge of Italian and French combined with her outstanding communication and organization skills make her a perfect fit for The Foreign Language Company

Whitney Ramsay    
Language Coordinator
Whitney is from Indianapolis and a recent graduate from Depauw University, having earned a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish. She studies in Granada, Spain in spring of 2005. Whitney is preparing to enter graduate school at IUPUI to work toward her Masters in Spanish language instruction. In the summer of 2005, she interned with The Foreign Language Company
, assisting with translations, proofreading, and teaching of an immersion class. Whitney also speaks some French and is working toward complete fluency before tackling Portuguese, then Italian and Romanian. Her goal is to master all of the principal Romance languages before she turns 30.

Christiane Wheatley   
Manager of St Louis Office
Christiane is Brazilian and has been living in the US since 1991. She began studying English, French and Spanish in Brazil with her sights set on diplomatic career. She studied International Relations at the Universidade de Brasília and later worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Finnish Embassy, while always improving her linguistic abilities. In the US, Christiane began working as a translator and specializes in the translation of technical, financial and insurance documents. She now works with us managing our St. Louis office. 

Daniela Alfonzo   
Spanish, Portuguese Translator
Daniela is a native of Venezuela. She is certified by the American Translators Association in English to Spanish translation. She also speaks fluent Brazilian Portuguese and worked on dubbing Brazilian soap operas in the 1990s. Daniela specializes in business, technology and industry. She also speaks French.

Jean Proyet  
French Translator
Jean is a native of Southern France who has been living in the United States for over 30 years. He specializes in legal translations, product packaging, electrical appliances, which has earned him the nickname, the "King of Toasters."
