Conference Interpreting

The Foreign Language Company offers complete language interpreting services for any type of conference or business meeting, including video teleconferencing. Whether you need one interpreter for a small business meeting or an entire team of simultaneous interpreters for an international conference, our international network of professional interpreters allows us to find the most qualified individuals. In addition, we can provide all necessary equipment and technical support to ensure that your event or conference will turn out flawlessly. There are two sorts of interpretation: simultaneous and interpreter. Most conference interpretation is rendered simultaneously.

Simultaneous interpreting is the process of interpreting from one language into another while a person is speaking. This is best suited for professional conferences, presentations and theatrical events where interrupting the flow of speech is not possible or undesirable. Listeners are provided with small wireless headsets that receive the interpretation. If the conference includes interpretation into more than one language, the audience can shift between channels to hear the various languages. A minimum of two interpreters per language is always needed for this sort of interpretation. Each interpreter works in periods of approximately twenty minutes.

Consecutive interpreting is the process of interpreting what the speaker says after each pause. This type of interpretation is best for one-on-one situations, small group meetings and telephone interpreting. The interpretation time is generally as long as, or longer than the original message. Remember to include this additional time when determining how long to schedule a presentation.
